The Pointing Dog

The Pointing Dog

These days his trot has developed a limp,

But you cannot tell it, when he gets their scent

When it is cold, he’s slow to untrack,

But when the trip comes, he’s a giddy pup to pack

Up in his box with just a leg up

Bouncing along, in the back of the truck,

Out in the field, fore the sun makes its run,

We sit and wait, for the emanate fun

Soon we are bathed, in its golden light,

Starting our walk, in dying night

Shooting time has come, and their on the ground

Back and forth moving, and running around

Into the wind, he knows he must wade

As some journeyman master, doing his trade

Sniffing and smelling and tasting the air

When he finds it, he’ll take me there

Upon arrival, he goes on point

Not moving a muscle, nor bending a joint

No matter how far,

Or, how slow I do walk

He waits for the flush,

And, the sound of the shot

Dead birds are down,

Then, gathered up

Another fine job,

Then, back to work,

When the day’s done,

We load up, and go home

Tomorrow I’ll work,

And he’ll, chew a bone

Until, the next time,

He’ll patiently wait

Sitting and looking, and licking his plate,

Quail and quail hunting, all in his head

Indeed, yes, he is-

A fine pointing dog, named Fred

Al's View

Sunday, on Blitzer's show, Al Gore was on talking about global warming and the government’s role to remedy it.  You would probably have a better chance of convincing a fence post rather than Al Gore that if global warming is indeed true mankind may not be its cause, so, I'll focus on his idea of a political solution.
A political solution to global warming- If you say that out loud you'll get a better feel for of the absurdity of such a notion; nonetheless, Al Gore beliefs in it.  He said, in what  I assume was a reference to the great Kyoto protocol,  that the united state’s great capacity for leadership is the most important asset in saving the world from global warming which in his mind will cause us all to boil to death in nocuous greenhouse gas.
. He believes that if the United States gets on board the Kyoto agreement and thus hobbles itself by choking its economy with emission restrictions then other polluters of the planet like India and China will go a head and shoot themselves in the foot by doing the same.
China and India are competitors of the United States in the global economy and would use whatever advantage they had. They would never make good on any agreement to cut emissions. Instead, they would engage in incessant finger pointing, blaming us for the failure of the agreement when we failed to meet emission restrictions.   We would, of course, fail to meet the restrictions because they are so unrealistic and would cost the U.S economy hundreds of billions of dollars just for an attempt; which, fortunately, is precisely why we have not agreed to them.
